After the hard work of 68 years from their first match, Kerala entered the Ranji trophy finals defeating Gujrat in the morning in Ahmedabad.
On the final day, Kerala needed 3 wickets while Gujarat was 28 runs away then left-arm spinner Aditya Sarwate took all remaining three wickets. The aggressive shot of Arzan Nagwaswalla took everyone’s breath away and cannot stop Kerala from writing its name in history to its entry in the finals. When the ball deflected from Salman Nizar’s helmet, Sachin Baby was on the slip.
Before all these things a huge drama was created when Jaymeet Patel was out due to sharp stumping and lbw was given to Sidhart Desai. From these silly points, Gujrat got closer to winning the match but spinners from Kerala handled the match very firmly.
In the second innings, Jalaj Saxena was bowled after making 71 runs for their team and Sarwate lost his wicket with 4 for 111. This final day’s battle ended and Kerala was successful in securing their place in their first-ever Ranji Trophy finals on 26 February against Vidarbha. With this historic victory, they are now in the lead of 1 run over Jammu & Kashmir in the semi-finals.
